Issue #2513

log type of ID

Affected version:

Description

It'd be very useful to have charon log the type of the ID when it compares IDs and does config lookups. Right now, they're not logged and it makes me scratch my head when literal strings don't match, because some ID is the wrong one. It happens a lot on IRC and one can't just tell from the logs without guessing.

They are logged on level 3 in the cfg subsytem: source:src/libcharon/config/backend_manager.c#L228

It would be great if the type could be logged on level two. The reason is that level 3 already contains mostly useless hex dumps, that just clutter the debug log files.

In cfg? There aren't that many hex dumps there (only stroke and RADIUS messages come to mind, and of course these IDs, which is probably why this is a level 3 message).

But please provide a patch if you come up with a more user friendly option.
